Russia Continues Strikes on Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure
On October 12, 2025, Russian forces launched attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities in Donetsk, Chernihiv, and Odesa regions, reports 24brussels.
The strikes inflicted damage on gas transportation infrastructure in Odesa, forcing energy workers and rescue teams to coordinate efforts to mitigate the consequences of the attacks and restore power supply.
Throughout the week, the occupiers targeted electricity transmission systems, generating capacities of thermal power plants, and hydroelectric stations. On October 10, part of Kyiv experienced a blackout due to shelling. The situation remains dire in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, where energy facilities have faced repeated attacks for several weeks. In a recent incident, two energy workers lost their lives in Chernihiv Oblast. The Donetsk region suffered power outages today as a result of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure.
The impact of these continuous assaults highlights the ongoing conflict’s toll on Ukraine’s critical energy assets, further complicating recovery efforts amid the war. As the situation unfolds, coordinated responses from national and local authorities remain crucial to ensuring the integrity of energy supplies and protecting civilian lives.
