Russia Reallocates Air Defense Assets from Donetsk to Crimea

On July 3, 2025, the partisan movement “ATESH” reported that Russia has begun actively relocating air defense systems from the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk to Crimea, considering the peninsula a higher priority for defense, reports 24brussels.

The underground movement claims this redeployment increases the likelihood of attacks on Russian military sites in Donetsk. They assert that Russian soldiers are attempting to conceal strategically significant locations, including command points and ammunition depots, though with difficulty.

Specifically, the report mentions the headquarters of the 8th Army and an ammunition depot in Khartsyzk. The partisans are urging locals to provide information on troop movements and military site locations, offering rewards for useful intelligence.

On June 30, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed a strike on the command point of Russia’s 8th Army in the temporarily occupied territory of Donetsk.

Additionally, explosions were reported in occupied Luhansk on the night of July 1. Fires were reported at several locations, including logistical bases of Russian troops and potentially at a fuel depot.
