Russian Drone Attack Hits Sumy Region

On the night of August 27, 2025, Russian forces launched a massive drone strike on the outskirts of the Sumy community, resulting in damage to infrastructure and prompting emergency crews to respond, reports 24brussels.

According to Oleg Grygorov, head of the Sumy regional military administration, preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties from the attack.

Local residents described a series of powerful explosions occurring in quick succession. Following the assault, electricity supply disruptions were noted in various parts of the city.

Soldier Stanislav Buniatov (call sign “Osman”) stated that the enemy is systematically targeting the region’s energy infrastructure. “The Russians are sequentially knocking out the energy supply of the Sumy region, so it is likely there will be no electricity or communication,” he emphasized.

Earlier that night, Russian forces also targeted several populated areas in the Sumy region with drones. As a result of these strikes, civilians were injured, and both residential and non-residential buildings sustained damage, leaving many without power.
