Russian Forces Attack Medical Brigade in Sumy Region
On Saturday, July 13, Russian forces launched an attack on an emergency medical brigade during the evacuation of an injured person in the Stetskivka area of the Sumy region. Oleg Hryhorov, head of the regional military administration, reported the incident via Telegram.
According to Hryhorov, after the initial strike on civilians receiving medical assistance, the Russian army conducted a second attack directly targeting the medical transport.
“Two paramedics are currently undergoing examination in a medical facility. Russia systematically violates international humanitarian law by firing on civilians and those who save lives,” Hryhorov emphasized.
Additionally, the assault resulted in the death of a 57-year-old resident of the region. The victim was traveling on a motorbike with his brother towards the Khotyn community when they were struck by a drone attack. The younger brother sustained injuries and is now under medical supervision.
The regional leader urged Sumy residents to limit movement near the border, as the occupiers regularly target civilian transportation.
On the same day, Russian drones targeted the regional center, with one drone hitting a critical infrastructure facility in Sumy, causing part of the city to experience a power outage.
According to the city council, medical facilities quickly switched to generator power. No casualties were reported from the attack. Municipal services are currently working on restoring electricity supply.
