In the early hours of August 19, 2025, Russian forces launched a wave of drones targeting Kremenchuk in the Poltava region, resulting in a series of explosions throughout the city. The Ukrainian Air Force reported the threat of hostile UAVs approaching from various directions, highlighting the escalating situation, reports 24brussels.
Monitoring sources indicate that Kremenchuk is experiencing another mass assault involving approximately 13 strike drones. This uptick in drone activity compounds existing tension in the area.
Prior to the drone strikes, around 10:00 PM, Volodymyr Kogut, the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, revealed that an emergency power outage had occurred in the Poltava community, leaving 563 legal entities and 7,341 residential clients without electricity. Restoration efforts are currently underway.
Moreover, it is suspected that Russia launched X-101 missiles from the Saratov region, further intensifying the conflict and raising alarms over the ongoing military threats.
How to Protect Yourself During Missile and Drone Attacks
During a missile strike or drone attack, the most critical response is to seek shelter. The safest locations include:
- Bomb shelters;
- Subway stations;
- Entrance halls without windows.
If no dedicated shelter is nearby, individuals should remain inside their homes, adhering to the two-wall rule — ensuring that there are at least two walls between themselves and the street. Remaining in a corner of a room below window level is advisable, ensuring a solid wall is positioned opposite.
Avoid taking refuge in kitchens and bathrooms, as these areas often contain fragile and sharp objects. In apartment buildings, it’s suggested to sit on the stairs between floors. Those in multi-story buildings should descend at least two floors below the rooftop; in a three-story building, the second floor is deemed the safest.
