Russian Forces Intensify Assault Near Kupiansk

On August 13, 2025, small Russian assault infantry groups have escalated their offensive actions near Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region, with a significant presence reported north of the city, stated Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic grouping of troops “Dnipro” during a televised marathon, reports 24brussels.

Trehubov highlighted that the aggressors are currently positioned alarmingly close to this populated area, which he termed a serious issue for Ukrainian forces.

In addition to the situation in Kupiansk, Trehubov noted that occupying forces are also making attempts to penetrate into the Dnipropetrovsk region on the Novopavlivka front, aiming to establish a foothold there.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russia seeks to circumvent Kupiansk and cut off logistical routes for Ukrainian military units. Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine refuted claims regarding Russian troops capturing the village of Datchne in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
