Ukrainian Troops Clear Stepnohirske as Russian Forces Attempt to Advance
Ukrainian military forces have successfully cleared Russian infantry groups from the village of Stepnohirske in the Zaporizhzhia region, although the aggressor’s army continues its advance towards this settlement by moving along the banks of the former Kakhovka reservoir, reports 24brussels.
According to Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn, the occupying forces are launching strikes to destroy Ukrainian positions in Stepnohirske, preventing them from establishing a foothold. Additionally, Russia seeks to occupy Kamianske due to its strategic elevation on the roadway connecting Simferopol and Kharkiv.
“Nearby Kamianske, at a similarly commanding height, lies Stepnohirske,” Voloshyn explained.
Voloshyn emphasized that the Russians aim to capture these two localities to threaten the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia city and shell it using long-range artillery. He noted that Ukrainian defenders are effectively preventing Russian troops from entering these villages.
Analysts from DeepState indicate that on the western front of the Zaporizhzhia region, the invaders are persistently pressuring with infantry from Pervomaiske to Shcherbaky, while also attempting to advance between Kamianske and Stepnohirske. The commander of the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade, known by the call sign Forest, underscored that the enemy’s actions in this area are currently more intense than at any time during the full-scale war over the past years.
