Russian Forces Expand Offensive Near Lyman, Ukraine
In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russian troops have successfully advanced into the Lyman area after capturing the village of Terny, threatening to disrupt defensive positions held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The developments come amid increased activity in the region, reports 24brussels.
Casualties and the scale of the conflict are concerning, as the aggressor’s forces seek to push toward the settlements of Novoselivka and Drobysheve. An officer, known by the callsign “Alek”, emphasized that the situation on the front lines in this area is bleak, with Russian forces achieving partial successes.
The impact of these advances is likely to extend to Lyman as well as neighboring Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. “Alek” warned that significant problems would arise for these cities if the Russian army reaches the Siverskyi Donets River, echoing a critical scenario from 2022.
Reflecting on the evolving nature of the conflict over the past three years, the military officer noted that initial attacks involved aerial and artillery bombardments. Currently, the towns face threats from an enhanced arsenal of FPV drones and cruise missiles, dramatically increasing the potential for devastation.
Ukrainian military officer Stanislav Bunyatov reported ongoing Russian troop build-ups in the Lyman-Siversk direction, with regular incursions by reconnaissance and sabotage units. He characterized the tactical situation for Ukrainian forces there as extremely challenging.
