Two Ukrainian Railway Workers Killed in Russian Attack

In a fresh escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine, two employees of Ukraine’s state railway company were killed during a Russian attack on the night of July 13 in the Donetsk region. Another railway worker sustained serious injuries. This was reported by Oleksandr Pert sovskyi, the head of Ukrainian Railways.

“Tragic news has struck the railway family. The attacks last night in Donetsk brought losses: a train driver and the assistant engineer of a diesel locomotive were killed while on duty,” stated Pert sovskyi.

The deceased were identified as being 31 and 52 years old. Additionally, another railway worker was injured on a separate section, suffering from shrapnel wounds to the head. He was transported to Mechnikov Hospital in Dnipro for treatment, where a successful operation was performed. His condition remains critical but stable.

“The enemy strikes at purely civilian objects with precision. They are bypassing defenses and intensifying attacks. Railway workers in Donetsk and other frontline regions, as well as throughout the country, continue their duties amidst this daily danger,” emphasized the head of Ukrainian Railways.

Earlier, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the United Strategic Group of Forces “Khortytsia,” indicated that Russian forces are relentless in their attempts to penetrate the Dnipropetrovsk region. However, at present, combat operations are reported to be occurring near the administrative border. For several weeks, Russian forces have attempted to create the impression of their presence in Dnipropetrovsk, filming fake reports claiming they are within the region. Yet, as of July 13, no confirmations of such claims have been made, reports 24brussels.
