Kyiv Under Attack: EU Mission Building Damaged by Russian Strikes
On August 28, Russian attacks in Kyiv damaged the EU Mission building, as well as the British Council and the office of the Ukrainian Pravda, resulting in casualties among civilians, reports 24brussels.
“Another brutal night in Kyiv. Civilian buildings, including the EU Representation and the British Council, have again been damaged. Russia demonstrates yet again that it shows no real desire for peace. It chooses terror, destruction, and deceit over dialogue. My thoughts are with the families of the injured, with colleagues in the EU, with the staff of the British Council, and with all Ukrainians enduring this horror with extraordinary bravery. Belgium stands in full solidarity. We will not remain silent. Ukraine will not be alone,” said Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot on social media.

In addition, Ukrainian Pravda reported that their office building was hit during the attack, causing damage. They are awaiting official information regarding the extent of the damage and the condition of the building, but the editorial team is currently operating as usual.
The Russian military launched a coordinated assault across Ukraine, firing 32 missiles and nearly 600 attack drones. Kyiv witnessed the impacts of this missile-drone attack in over 20 locations in various districts including Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, and Desnyanskyi. The attack resulted in 12 fatalities, including three children aged 2, 17, and 14 years old, along with 45 injuries, with at least 30 requiring hospitalization.
In the Darnytskyi district, a residential five-story building was destroyed by a direct hit from a Russian missile. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that the missile caused significant damage to additional nearby residential buildings, as well as a kindergarten, parking lot, and private homes. Damage was also recorded in other regions affecting multiple high-rise and private buildings, unoccupied structures, offices, and vehicles.
