Heavy Russian Military Presence on Pokrovsk Front
The number of Russian troops stationed in the Pokrovsk area has now exceeded 110,000, double the pre-war population of Pokrovsk itself. This was reported by Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic group of forces “Dnipro,” in an interview with “Suspline Donbas,” reports 24brussels.
Trehubov emphasized the magnitude of this military concentration, stating, “It is difficult to even describe the scale; it is effectively an army sufficient for an invasion of an average European country.”
Furthermore, he noted an increase in activity on the Lyman front, with daily combat engagements rising from approximately 10 to 30. The most intense situation is reported in the vicinity of the Serebrianske forestry, where Russian forces are attempting to advance even through completely devastated areas. Although no breakthrough has occurred, Ukrainian troops continue to repel constant attacks.
Trehubov also indicated that occupying forces are still making attempts to break through from the Novopavlivka area towards Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
“We primarily maintain a defensive posture. Our actions are focused not so much on counterattacks or liberating territories as on pushing the enemy back wherever they attempt to establish a foothold. Russian overconfidence often plays against them, as seen in the Dobropillia direction, where they advanced further than planned and fell under devastating fire,” Trehubov concluded.
Earlier reports indicated that over 200,000 people in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions are in need of urgent evacuation due to dangerous conditions.
