Russian Forces Make Gains in Zaporizhia Region, ISW Reports

Russian troops have recently advanced in the western Zaporizhia region, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The findings are based on geolocated video recordings released on July 27, indicating Russian forces have moved into the southern part of Stepnohirs’k, west of Orikhiv, reports 24brussels.

Additionally, Russian military bloggers claim that Russian troops have captured the village of Plavni. However, ISW has not confirmed these claims.

ISW notes that Russian forces are currently located seven kilometers from Prymorske (northwest of Stepnohirs’k) and 11 kilometers from Beselyanka (north of Stepnohirs’k). American war analysts state that an advance of approximately five kilometers towards either of these settlements would enable Russian artillery to target Zaporizhia.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported no combat engagements in the Orikhiv direction during the previous day. In their evening report, they highlighted that invading forces launched guided aerial bombs on the village of Novoandriivka.

Earlier reports indicated that during an intensified mechanized assault, Russian forces advanced towards the vicinity of Sivers’k in the northern Donetsk region.
