Ukrainian Authorities Discover Downed Russian Drone with Explosive Mines
On August 5, 2025, Ukrainian law enforcement officials in Sumy region reported the discovery of a downed Russian kamikaze drone, which had been equipped with anti-tank mines PTM-3. This method allows Russian forces to remotely mine agricultural land and field roads, reports 24brussels.
The National Police of Ukraine indicated that PTM-3 mines are relatively small, featuring a magnetic detonator that responds to the movement of nearby vehicles.
Authorities urged agricultural machinery operators to exercise caution, as these mines can be difficult to spot in the grass.
In case of encountering such a mine, the police recommend:
- immediately stopping the vehicle;
- moving away to a safe distance;
- reporting the incident by calling 102.
Currently, Russian forces are focusing on increasing the speed of kamikaze drones while also enhancing their explosive payloads.
