Russian Attack on Kyiv Prompts Air Raid Alerts
On July 4, 2025, shortly after midnight, Russian forces launched a MiG-31K bomber, triggering missile danger alerts across Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Several minutes later, the alert specifically warned of a missile targeting Kyiv, reports 24brussels.
The MiG-31K is equipped with the hypersonic Kinzhal missile, posing a significant threat to all regions in Ukraine.
Monitoring groups indicated that two MiGs were airborne, firing two missiles at the capital. Reports emerged of explosions in the suburbs of Kyiv, raising questions about whether it was a missile strike or intercepts.
Meanwhile, an ongoing attack involving enemy drones targeted the city. Reports noted between 10 to 15 UAVs near the metropolitan area.
“Attention! Kyiv! Do not disregard safety measures! Remain in shelters until the alert is lifted!” warned the Air Force at 0:39.
At 0:48, city mayor Vitali Klitschko reported explosions in Kyiv, stating, “Air defense forces are operational.”
