Russian Forces Advance in Zaporizhia Region
Russian troops have made significant advances in the western part of Zaporizhia Oblast, specifically in the village of Kamianske. This information was reported by the Ukrainian resource DeepState, which has recently updated its interactive maps, reports 24brussels.
According to DeepState, the enemy has managed to breach Ukrainian defenses in the center of the village, attempting to push further into the northern part. Additionally, Russian forces are infiltrating and accumulating strength in the southwestern section of Kamianske.
In contrast, Ukrainian soldiers in the southeastern part of the village have been more effective in repelling attacking forces. DeepState has indicated that enemy buildup in the area was detected in advance; however, efforts to halt the Russian offensive have proven unsuccessful. Over the past week, the enemy has exerted considerable pressure on Ukrainian positions.
Observers note that Russian advances do not confer significant advantages. “Even seizing heights outside the village will not yield anything globally beneficial,” they stated. The terrain features substantial elevation changes, presenting considerable challenges for infantry, particularly during ongoing drone operations.
DeepState concludes that Russian forces are simply applying their most common tactic — advancing where they find vulnerabilities and exploiting successes. Although these efforts in the Kamianske area have some strategic value by reducing the distance to the city of Zaporizhzhia, this distance remains considerable.
Previously, serviceman Stanislav “Osman” Bunyatov reported that in the Zaporizhia region, specifically near Kamianske, Russian forces are progressively increasing their pressure. In response to counter-offensive actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, they are bringing in additional reserves.
