Russian Forces Intensify Assaults in Kharkiv Region
On July 8, 2025, Russian occupation forces increased their offensive operations in the Kharkiv region, particularly near the village of Milove in the Kupiansk district, crossing the state border and attacking Ukrainian positions with artillery support and drones, reported spokesperson for the Operational Tactical Group “Kharkiv”, Pavlo Shamshin.
Additionally, Shamshin indicated that Russian infantry units attempted to advance towards Ambarne but were halted by Ukrainian troops. He stated that the invaders later shifted their focus and began advancing towards the village of Khatne, where they were also stopped by defense forces.
Shamshin noted that the situation in the Kupiansk direction has stabilized. He indicated that Russian troops are currently rarely using armored vehicles. He mentioned that fighting continues daily in Vovchansk, where the occupiers are trying to displace the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the assembly plant.
Earlier, the head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, Andrii Besedin, reported that Kupiansk has been destroyed or damaged by 90%. Russia has also destroyed part of Vovchansk across the Vovcha River. Analysts from DeepState indicate that Russian forces are attempting to encircle Vovchansk from the right or left flanks.
Furthermore, it has been emphasized that Ukrainian defenses remain vigilant despite aggressive maneuvers by Russian forces, aiming to hold their positions and counter any advancement on the ground, reports 24brussels.
