Ukrainian Forces Advance in Sumy Region Amidst Ongoing Russian Attacks

Ukrainian troops have recently made advancements in the northern Sumy region, according to the latest report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The researchers referenced geolocated video footage published on June 29, indicating that Ukrainian forces have moved west of Andriivka, located north of Sumy city, reports 24brussels.

The ISW report noted that on July 1 and 2, Russian military forces launched attacks in the border area of Sumy Oblast. Ukrainian military figure Stanislav Buniyatov, author of the Telegram channel “Sniper Speaks,” stated that Russian forces are suffering “incredible losses and are pulling in reserves in agony.” He added that “aviation regularly drops guided bombs and uses all available weaponry to maintain their positions.”

Intense air assaults in this section of the front were also highlighted in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s evening report. They reported that within the last day, the enemy conducted nine air strikes, dropping 19 guided bombs, alongside 337 artillery attacks, including 19 from multiple rocket launch systems. Additionally, 11 clashes with Russian aggressors occurred in the northeastern and Kursk directions.

Previously, former U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the situation in the northern sector of the Ukrainian front but did not provide any specific remarks regarding the ongoing developments.
