Russian Offensive Intensifies in Kharkiv Region

On July 9, 2025, Russian occupation forces escalated offensive actions in the Kupiansk direction, particularly around the village of Zahryzove, as they attempted to flank Ukrainian positions. However, troops from the First Presidential Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine managed to block their advance towards Kivsharivka, according to Commander Yuriy Fedorenko of the 429th Separate Drone Systems Regiment “Achilles”, reports 24brussels.

Fedorenko also discussed the situation to the north of Kupiansk, noting that Russian forces are advancing towards the villages of Holubivka and Kindrashivka. He indicated that the Russian army aims to push further east of the Oskil River and encircle Kupiansk from the north without getting mired in urban structures.

He emphasized that the intention of the aggressors is to cut off Ukrainian military supply routes in this area. Reports suggest that Russian troops are also trying to expand their foothold near the settlement of Dvorichna.

Moreover, the military indicated that the occupiers are attempting to advance near the state border towards the village of Milove and continue their attacks in Vovchansk. Earlier, Andriy Besedin, head of the Kupiansk city military administration, reported that Kupiansk has been 90% destroyed or damaged, and parts of Vovchansk across the Vovcha River have also been devastated.

Analysts from DeepState have noted that Russian forces are attempting to encircle Vovchansk from either side.
