Russia Strikes Kyiv Region with Hypersonic Missiles
In the early hours of July 21, Russia reportedly launched an attack on the Kyiv region using Kinzhal hypersonic missiles. The incident occurred around 0:30, coinciding with air raid sirens sounding across Ukraine.
At 0:23, the Ukrainian Air Force indicated the takeoff of a MiG-31K bomber, known to be armed with the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missile, which poses a significant threat to all regions of the country. Just a minute before, at 0:22, the air alert reached across Ukraine.
A monitoring group, “Why Alarm | Radar,” reported at 0:32 that a strong explosion was heard in Kyiv, suggesting that the strike might have targeted Irpin. There is currently a wait for official confirmation regarding the incident.
Additionally, a local community group, “This is Irpin, Grisha | Kyiv, Bucha, Hostomel,” refuted the monitoring reports about the Kinzhal strike on the city, stating: “There was a sound, but it was similar to previous Kinzhal overflights. It will become clearer later, but it doesn’t seem like an impact. The sound from the Shahed drone, which hit almost in the center of Irpin, was much louder.”
At 0:42, monitoring groups confirmed the end of the threat from the MiG-31K and the withdrawal of aircraft from the launch area.
