Drone Attack Reported in Engels, Russia

In the early hours of July 5, a series of explosions occurred in the Russian city of Engels, located in the Saratov region, with initial reports suggesting a possible drone attack by Ukrainian forces. Approximately ten explosions were heard, with the strategic aviation airfield in Engels believed to be the target, reports 24brussels.

Saratov Governor Roman Busargin stated that residential buildings in Engels and Saratov were reportedly damaged by the blasts, and all emergency services are currently on the scene. There have been no reports of casualties at this time, and no further details have been provided by officials.

Ukrainian authorities and military representatives have not commented on the incident as of the time of publication.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed an attack on the Borisoglebsk military airfield in the Voronezh region. According to Ukrainian military reports, a controlled bomb storage facility was destroyed, and at least one aircraft was damaged during the night’s operations.

It is noteworthy that on June 14, an explosion occurred at the Central Automobile Repair Plant in the Saratov region, which is located less than two kilometers from the “Kristall” oil depot, that had previously suffered damage in a drone attack.
