Russian Forces Shift Offensive Focus Towards Dobropillya
Russian troops are altering their offensive priorities in the Pokrovsk direction, redirecting their efforts towards Dobropillya, according to a recent report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). This shift follows an analysis of the ongoing combat in the region, reports 24brussels.
Researchers indicate that geolocated videos released on July 6 and 7 show Russian forces recently advancing to the northeast and south of Novoekonomichne during a mechanized assault by a platoon. The invaders have attempted to push into this area from the east for the past two months without success.
Consequently, Russian military operations appear to be refocusing on the area northeast of Pokrovsk, targeting Dobropillya.
This change comes after Russian forces failed to achieve significant advancements west of Toretsk in the direction of Konstantinivka, where they had been offensively engaged since early June 2025. This lack of progress has prompted Russian military command to seek alternative routes for advancement.
ISW forecasts that Russian forces will now attempt to move towards Rodynske, pushing towards Dobropillya, aiming to force the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat from Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad under the threat of encirclement, before resuming their assault on Konstantinivka.
Previously, it was reported that on July 6, Russian forces occupied Piddubne and made advances near Rivnopillya in the southern Donetsk region.
