Russia Launches Large-Scale Drone Attack on Ukraine
In the night of July 5, starting from 20:00 on July 4, Russian forces deployed a total of 322 strike drones, including Shahed drones and various imitation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), against Ukraine, according to reports from the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports 24brussels.
The drones were launched from several locations, including Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo in Russia.
The primary target of the attacks was the city of Starokostiantyniv in the Khmelnytskyi region.
Ukrainian defense forces, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, responded to the aerial assault.
As of 09:30, air defense systems successfully intercepted 292 enemy Shahed drones and other UAVs. Of these, 157 were shot down by fire means, while 135 were lost or suppressed through electronic warfare.
There were confirmed hits from the attacking aerial assets in four locations, with debris reported from downed drones falling in six areas.
Earlier on July 4, a Shahed drone reportedly struck in the city of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region, resulting in three injuries, including a 12-year-old boy.
