In the past week, Russia has launched over 1460 guided bombs, 670 attack drones, and more than 30 missiles on Ukrainian territory. The intensity of these attacks indicates a deliberate campaign aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure and terrorizing the population. These are not accidental strikes but a well-planned strategy of terror that contradicts all norms of international law.
Massive Airstrikes: Life Under Constant Threat
Daily airstrikes have turned the lives of millions of Ukrainians into a fight for survival. Missiles and drones target homes, hospitals, schools, energy facilities, and transportation infrastructure. As a result, cities are left without electricity, heating, and water, endangering the lives of thousands of people, especially children, the elderly, and hospital patients.
The intensity of the bombings has reached such a level that even in cities far from the frontlines, people are forced to live in shelters. There are no “military targets”; this is simply an attempt to break Ukrainian society through chaos and fear.
Systematic Destruction of Critical Infrastructure
The Russian army is deliberately attacking thermal power stations, water supply systems, hospitals, train stations, and schools. These are not accidental losses but part of a strategy to create a humanitarian disaster, force people to flee their homes, and spread panic.
Without electricity and heating during the cold months, tens of thousands of families are faced with the choice of fleeing or surviving in extreme conditions. Attacks on hospitals endanger the lives of critically ill patients, while strikes on schools deny children their right to an education.
War Crimes Ignoring the Geneva Conventions
Missile strikes on hospitals, schools, and residential areas violate the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law. The Geneva Conventions explicitly prohibit attacks on civilian targets, but Russia systematically disregards these norms.
When missiles hit maternity wards, emergency stations, or schools, it is not a coincidence — it is a tactic of terror. The deliberate destruction of social infrastructure is designed to weaken resistance and force Ukrainians to live in constant fear.
This Is Not Just a War: It Is a Policy of Terror
The daily casualties among the civilian population are not a “side effect” of the war, but its very essence. Each new strike is part of a deliberate strategy:
• Destroy normal civilian life
• Spread panic and force millions of people to flee
• Use fear as a weapon for political pressure
This is not a war between armies; it is a campaign of intimidation. Russia is not seeking peace; it wants Ukraine’s capitulation, using methods already condemned by international tribunals throughout history.
A Call to the World: Silence Is Complicity
Each missile that strikes a home, each attack drone that leaves a hospital without power, is not just an attack on Ukraine. It is a challenge to the entire international community, built on the principles of humanity and law.
If the international community does not respond firmly now, tomorrow this tactic will become the norm. And then any country wishing to impose its will will use terror as a method of warfare.
Ukraine is not only fighting for its independence. It is fighting so that, in the 21st century, mass war crimes do not go unpunished. Today, silence is supporting terror.
