Russian Forces Intensify Attacks near Vovchansk

On July 2, 2025, Russian occupation forces have ramped up their assault activity near Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region, according to Alexander Danilenko, head of the media interaction group of the “Gart” Brigade of the State Border Guard Service. The increase in the scale of military operations includes a greater deployment of personnel, reports 24brussels.

Danilenko noted that instead of small infantry units, Russian forces are now launching attacks with groups of up to 25 soldiers. He added that the occupiers are using forested areas for cover and are rarely deploying heavy military equipment. Instead, they are utilizing scooters and other light vehicles to quickly reach Ukrainian positions under the protection of drones.

According to Danilenko, the Russian army suffers daily losses of around 100 personnel from injuries and fatalities. The occupiers are continuously conducting rotations, introducing new units to the frontline.

One year ago, Russian troops began their offensive on Vovchansk, leading to the near-total destruction of the city over this period. Currently, Ukrainian forces maintain control over the local aggregate factory.
