Trump Refutes CNN Reports on Proposed $30 Billion Iran Investment

U.S. President Donald Trump has refuted CNN’s claims that Washington is considering a proposal to offer Iran $30 billion for its civilian nuclear program. In a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, he labeled the information as fake news and denounced the journalists disseminating it as “scoundrels,” reports 24brussels.

“I have never heard of such an absurd idea. This is just another lie propagated by the media that spreads fake news to demean. These people are sick!” Trump stated.

Additionally, during a NATO summit, Trump announced that Washington and Tehran would resume nuclear negotiations next week. However, this assertion was promptly denied by Iranian officials. Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, indicated that if the U.S. president genuinely seeks an agreement, he must adopt a respectful tone towards Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his supporters.

This exchange highlights the ongoing tension surrounding nuclear discussions, as both sides appear to struggle for constructive dialogue. The future of such negotiations remains uncertain amid conflicting statements from U.S. and Iranian leaders.
