Ukraine Launches World’s First AI-Powered Public Services
Ukraine is set to become the first country globally to offer governmental services utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), with the launch of an AI assistant on the “Diia” platform, announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov. This innovative initiative is part of Ukraine’s strategy to integrate AI into public services and aims to position the country among the top three in the world for AI development and application in the public sector by 2030, reports 24brussels.
Fedorov emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming “Diia” from a digital service into a fully operational AI agent that will provide continuous services without the need for excessive paperwork. “We are focusing on evolving ‘Diia’ into an AI agent that operates 24/7 and delivers services seamlessly,” he stated, adding that a comprehensive vision for “Diia.AI” will be presented to the public in the fall.
“Diia.AI” marks the world’s first governmental AI agent, offering services directly through customer chats. Currently, it operates in beta testing. What capabilities does this application offer?
- Provides services. The first service available is income verification, which users can request directly in the chat by typing, “I need an income verification,” before accessing it in their personal account. Fedorov noted that five additional services will soon be introduced in a similar format.
- Offers information about other services. For example, users can ask questions about opening a sole proprietorship or learn details about child packages directly within the application, rather than searching on Google.
- Suggests services based on specific situations. If a user’s home has been damaged, the AI will instantly recommend the eRestoration service along with instructions on how to obtain government compensation.
In addition, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has teased upcoming features for the “Diia” platform, including online divorce services slated for release this autumn, and a surname change service expected by the end of the year. Initiatives such as eNotary and eExcise are also in development.
