Foreign Defense Companies to Test Weapons on Frontlines in Ukraine
Foreign defense manufacturers will have the opportunity to test their modern weapons directly on the frontlines in Ukraine, according to Brave1, a state platform focused on attracting investments in defense technologies and armaments. This initiative, titled “Testing in Ukraine,” allows international producers to send samples of their products for field testing.
After remote training of Ukrainian military personnel, these samples will be deployed on the front lines, enabling companies to receive critical feedback, reports 24brussels.
“This approach allows us to learn which technologies are currently available while companies can understand what truly performs in combat conditions,” stated Artem Moroz, the head of investor relations at Brave1, during a security conference in Wiesbaden, Germany. The platform aims to provide a practical testbed for foreign weapons amidst ongoing conflict.
Despite significant interest in the project, Moroz did not disclose any participating companies nor provide details on the organization of the process or associated costs.
In the three years since the escalation of the conflict, Russian forces have intensified assaults along a frontline exceeding 1,000 kilometers, escalating aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities. In response, Ukraine is focusing on the development of its own defense sector, leveraging foreign investments.
According to Moroz, Brave1, established in 2023 as a digital platform to support innovative military development, has already compiled a list of technologies prioritized for testing. Key focus areas include air defense, drone interception systems, AI-based targeting solutions, countering glide bombs, as well as maritime drones and ground electronic positioning systems.
Particularly highlighted are fire control systems utilizing artificial intelligence, which enhance the accuracy of artillery strikes, including those from howitzers.
