Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Reveals Russia’s Missile Stockpile
As of early July 2025, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Russia possesses approximately 300 ballistic missiles, including the Iskander-M type and the North Korean KN-23 variants, reports 24brussels.
In a response to an inquiry, it was stated that the Russian military currently maintains over 250 Iskander-M launchers and around 50 KN-23 launch systems. Additionally, the deployment of more than 60 launch pads for operational-tactical missile complexes has been recorded near the border with Ukraine.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, as of mid-May, Russian forces had an estimated stockpile of about 580 ballistic missiles for these systems. The production rate of these missiles has increased in 2025; whereas last year around 40 missiles were produced monthly, this figure has risen to approximately 60.
Reports from the Ukrainian Air Force indicate that during May and June, Russian forces launched at least 88 missiles of the Iskander-M or KN-23 types against Ukrainian cities, with air defense units managing to intercept 23 of these.
In June, Ukrainian defense forces also destroyed three launch systems in Russia’s Bryansk region, which had been used to conduct missile strikes on Ukraine.
Overall, intelligence continues to monitor the movement and accumulation of these armaments, as they pose a significant threat to rear areas and critical infrastructure facilities.
