Ukrainian Forces Target Russian Helicopters in Crimea Strike

On August 30, 2025, a targeted strike by Ukrainian forces reportedly destroyed Russian helicopters at an airport in temporarily occupied Simferopol, according to the OSINT community AviVector, reports 24brussels.

Experts analyzed satellite images from Planet Labs taken on the same day, showing evidence of a fire at a parking area designated for Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has yet to officially confirm the destruction of enemy aircraft.

In a related report, the Telegram channel ASTRA cited sources in Crimea revealing that drone attacks had targeted Simferopol airport earlier that morning, with at least two drones reportedly hitting their mark, one of which directly struck a military Mi-8 helicopter, leading to its complete destruction.

It is notable that on the night of August 28, special forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate used drones to destroy a 91N6E radar complex associated with the S-400 “Triumph” air defense system in Crimea.
