Drone Strikes Hit Moscow Overnight
On the night of August 11, drones targeted Moscow in a significant escalation of aerial assaults. At 21:55 on August 10, the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, reported that the Russian Ministry of Defense’s air defense systems intercepted a UAV heading towards the city, reports 24brussels.
By 0:41 and 0:48, Sobyanin confirmed the destruction of two more drones approaching Moscow, adding that emergency services were on the scene where debris had fallen. Eyewitness accounts from various sources indicate explosions in suburbs to the southeast of the capital.
According to the Russian service of the BBC, local news outlets reported drone sightings and explosions in the towns of Ramenskoye and Bronnitsy as well as in the village of Sofyino. These locations are all within a 20-kilometer radius, with the Zhukovsky Airport situated in Ramenskoye.
Authorities in Voronezh and Lipetsk regions have also declared a state of alarm in response to the drone incursions over the past half-hour. This follows reports from the previous night when Ukrainian forces struck the Saratov oil refinery, resulting in explosions and a subsequent fire.
