Ukrainian Forces Advance in Lyman Sector Amid Ongoing Conflict
Ukrainian troops have recently made significant gains in the Lyman direction. According to the latest report from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), geolocation videos published on August 14 confirm that Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have advanced in the southern part of Torské, east of Lyman, reports 24brussels.
Additionally, U.S. analysts reference information from Russian sources indicating that Russian troops have advanced north of Sredneye and by 500 meters within Shandrigolovo, both located to the northwest of Lyman. However, ISW has not verified these claims.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for a Ukrainian brigade operating in the Lyman area stated that Russian forces are concentrating a significant number of troops in this direction while continuously replenishing their reserves. The spokesperson noted that Russian units in this area have only completed a month of training and engage Ukrainian positions in fire teams of two to four infantrymen. Moreover, the Russian drone strike range in this region is reported to extend between 15 to 20 kilometers.
The General Staff of the UAF reported in their evening update that in the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 Russian attacks in the areas of Ridkodub, Hrekivka, Myrne, Shandrigolovo, Kolodyazi, and Karpivka.
Previous reports indicated that Russian forces had concentrated a large number of military personnel in the Lyman sector.
