Russian Sabotage Groups Enter Kupiansk Amid Ongoing Military Operations
On September 18, 2025, Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups infiltrated Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region, prompting Ukrainian forces to initiate a counter-sabotage operation in the city. The head of the Kupiansk city military administration, Andriy Besedin, confirmed the situation’s critical nature, stating the Russians continue to press on Ukrainian positions in an effort to capture the settlement, reports 24brussels.
Besedin indicated that significant casualties have been inflicted on the Russian groups, with a number of soldiers captured by Ukrainian troops. He stated that Russian military command has issued orders to their forces to destroy the civilian population in Kupiansk, highlighting the severe danger faced by the residents who remain in the area.
Russian troops reportedly utilized a gas pipeline to facilitate their movement into Kupiansk. However, Ukrainian forces managed to blow up and submerge this underground pipeline. Currently, the occupiers are increasing their troop deployments on rafts and boats across the Oskil River.
This escalation in Kupiansk underscores the sustained tensions in the region as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty amidst ongoing conflict. The international community watches closely, as the developments may have broader implications for regional stability.
