Ukrainian Forces Advance in Donetsk Region
Ukrainian troops have recently made significant advances in the southern Donetsk region, specifically in the Novopavlivka direction. According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), geolocation videos released on July 18 indicate that Ukrainian forces have reclaimed the village of Yalta, located near the administrative border with Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, reports 24brussels.
Evidence shows that Ukrainian forces have also pushed southwest of Komar. ISW’s report cites Ukrainian military sources confirming the retaking of both Yalta and Voskresenka.
In contrast, Russian sources have claimed advances in a different section of the Novopavlivka direction, reporting that Russian troops have moved one kilometer deeper into Ukrainian territory across a two-kilometer front south of Piddubne. However, ISW has not confirmed these statements.
Furthermore, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in their morning update that Russian forces launched attacks on Ukrainian positions 13 times in areas including Zirka, Vilne Pole, Novopil, Zelenе Pole, Maliivka, Shevchenko, and towards Oleksandrograd and Komyshuvakha.
Previously, it had been reported that Ukrainian troops achieved success in the Pokrovsk direction, managing to advance southeast of Novoekonomichne.
