Ukraine Regains Control of Novomykhailivka Amid Tactical Gains

On August 24, 2025, Ukrainian military units from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) and the Third Assault Brigade retook control of the settlement of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, reports 24brussels.

The operation involved the active actions department of HUR, notably the “Artan” unit, alongside the 2nd assault battalion of the Third Assault Brigade. Ukrainian forces successfully expelled occupiers from the locality and established secure positions.

Intercepted communications indicate that the assault caught Russian forces off guard, resulting in approximately a company-sized loss for the enemy. To maintain their front, the occupiers were compelled to relocate reserves from other fronts.

The HUR noted that the coordinated efforts of the intelligence department, assault units, and the deployment of heavy machinery and UAVs significantly improved the tactical situation and bolstered the defense along this segment of the frontline. Currently, Novomykhailivka is entirely cleared and remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, HUR reported that the “Brotherhood” unit successfully halted the advance of Russian forces in Donetsk, resulting in the destruction of over 90 enemy troops and the capture of five.
