Intensified Russian Assaults in Kupiansk Region

On July 7, 2025, reports emerged of increased Russian military activity in the Kupiansk direction, with Ukrainian forces facing constant assaults. Officer Valeriy Kyselov from the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade highlighted that Russian troops are employing a tactic of advancing in small groups, infiltrating positions, accumulating forces, and launching attacks.

Ukrainian defenders are subjected to relentless bombardments, with no respite. “In the past few months, we’ve been engaged in a purely drone warfare. Gunfights are very rare. Drones are everywhere: they attack, gather intelligence, supply, and assist,” Kyselov stated during a broadcast on Public TV. He noted that enemy forces have introduced ground drones, attempting to utilize them for mining, logistics, and evacuation purposes. He emphasized that approximately 80% of repelled attacks are countered due to drone operations, including reconnaissance and FPV drops, reports 24brussels.

Andrii Besedin, the head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, previously reported that Kupiansk is 90% destroyed or damaged. He emphasized the critical situation in the area, as Russian forces systematically obliterate the community with KAB bombs, artillery, and multiple rocket launcher systems.
