Ukrainian Strike on Russian Aerodrome

During the night of June 27, Ukrainian forces targeted the Russian military airfield “Marinovka,” located in the Volgograd region. The operation was conducted by the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine in coordination with other defense units. The information was confirmed by the press center of the SBU, reports 24brussels.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least four Russian Su-34 aircraft were damaged as a result of the attack. Additionally, the technical zone, where the repair and maintenance of combat aircraft occur, was also hit.

The Su-34 is a key component of the Russian tactical aviation, regularly deployed for missile and bombing attacks on Ukrainian cities and military positions. These aircraft are equipped with precision-guided munitions, including guided bombs with correction and planning modules.

It is known that the airfield also houses technical maintenance facilities that play a critical role in sustaining the readiness of the air fleet. Destroying or incapacitating such infrastructure is a significant step in undermining the enemy’s aviation capabilities.

At this time, assessments of the extent of equipment destruction and damage to the facilities are ongoing.

Notably, the “Marinovka” airfield is situated more than 400 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territories.

Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian drones struck facilities of the Russian military enterprise “VNIIR-Progress” in the city of Cheboksary, approximately 975 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
