Heavily Fortified Ukrainian Positions Resist Russian Assaults in Pokrovsk
Pokrovsk remains under Ukrainian control as Russian forces intensify their attempts to seize the area. In an interview with “Suspilne Novyny,” Roman, the commander of the 32nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, confirmed the presence of a 110,000-strong Russian grouping concentrated on the Pokrovsk front, reports 24brussels.
The enemy is probing the front line in search of vulnerabilities in Ukrainian defenses. Currently, Russian troops employ a tactic of assaults from multiple directions using small infantry “twos.” They are continually altering their logistical routes.
According to Roman, the enemy is making every effort to launch relentless attacks while minimizing exposure to drone strikes. Ukrainian forces target not only the front line but also positions along the approaches, effectively disrupting enemy operations.
As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the day, Russian occupiers have made 25 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian forces. Defense forces continue to hold their ground, having repelled 24 attacks by midday on August 8. The fighting persists.
It is noteworthy that Russian troops are shaping their strategy to encircle Pokrovsk, a crucial logistical hub vital for supporting Ukrainian military operations in the Donbas. Specifically, they have advanced westward toward the H-32 highway and toward the settlement of Rodynske, which serves as a key northern logistical route.
