Ukrainian Forces Successfully Target Russian Artillery Systems in Kherson Region
The 30th Marine Corps of the Ukrainian Naval Forces has successfully destroyed four artillery systems used by Russian occupation troops to launch attacks on Kherson over four days, while also inflicting casualties on 83 Russian soldiers, reports 24brussels.
From October 7 to 10, Russian forces carried out 38 artillery strikes in the Kherson region, affecting the provincial capital significantly. The spokesperson for the Marine Corps, Oleksandr Zavtonov, emphasized that Kherson has suffered the most from these artillery assaults.
Zavtonov further noted that Ukrainian defenders do not position artillery systems in residential areas, contrasting with the tactics employed by Russian troops in temporarily occupied territories.
“Nevertheless, we possess means to counter such terrorist attacks… We are doing everything possible to protect the city, identify and eliminate enemy personnel, weaponry, and equipment,” he stated.
Earlier, Zavtonov reported that Russian forces intensified their assault operations near the Antonivskyi Bridge and attempted to advance near the islands of Velykyi Vilkhovyi and Nestrih. Ukrainian Volunteer Army spokesperson Serhiy Bratchuk remarked that Russian forces lack the resources for a significant offensive in the area surrounding the Dnipro islands.
The ongoing conflict has heightened tensions in the region as military actions continue to escalate. Ukrainian forces, amid their strategic operations, aim to assert control and mitigate the impacts of Russian aggression on their territories while maintaining civilian safety.
