Ukrainian Military Enhances Medical Evacuation Efforts with Robotic Systems
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander General Oleksandr Syrskyi held a crucial monthly meeting focused on military medicine and medical support on August 11, 2025. The discussion highlighted the development of ground robotic systems (GRS), specifically their capabilities to evacuate wounded soldiers, reports 24brussels.
“The nature of warfare is changing, and the primary means of engagement have evolved; strike drones significantly increase the depth of the front — under these conditions, the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield has become considerably more complicated… Given the current circumstances, adhering to operational evacuation requirements has become increasingly challenging. However, we must seek effective responses to these challenges,” emphasized the commander.
He noted that widespread use of GRS for evacuation might be a viable solution. The Air Assault Forces, specifically the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade, have already gained positive experience in utilizing these systems.
Following the meeting, Syrskyi instructed to expand the use of GRS, enhance medical units with armored and evacuation equipment, and implement additional measures to ensure timely transportation of the wounded and provision of qualified medical assistance.
Earlier reports indicated that in July 2025, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense brought into operation eight new GRS, all produced in Ukraine. These systems are capable of executing logistical and specialized tasks, evacuating the wounded, and can operate in various weather conditions while covering significant distances.
