Ukrainian Navy Downs Six Iranian Drones Amid Overnight Assault
On August 31, during a nighttime air raid, the Ukrainian Navy’s forces intercepted six Russian SHAHED-136 kamikaze drones, according to reports from the official Telegram channel of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, reports 24brussels.
The Ukrainian military emphasized that naval forces, alongside other defense units, remain committed to eradicating enemy threats on land, sea, and in the air.
While specific details on the locations of the drone interceptions were not disclosed, it is known that the port city of Chornomorsk, near Odesa, faced a massive drone attack during the night. Air raid alerts persisted for approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, with monitoring accounts reporting over 40 drones targeting the city.
Additionally, it was noted that naval aviation has the capability to engage aerial threats well beyond coastal areas.
Earlier on the same day, starting around midnight, explosions were reported in several districts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast as Russian forces launched attacks in the region using strike drones.
