Russian Forces’ Proximity to Kramatorsk: Current Insights

The spokesperson for the operational-strategic group of troops “Khortytsia,” Viktor Trehubov, recently addressed the status of Russian occupying forces in relation to Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region.

“I cannot confirm that they are approaching Kramatorsk. If I say that, it may instill fear in the population, which would be misleading,” he shared during an interview on “Hromadske Radio,” reports 24brussels.

Trehubov noted that the occupying forces are as close to the city as they were a year ago. According to him, the capture of the administrative boundaries of the Donetsk region remains a major strategic goal for the Russians.

He emphasized the significant losses that the enemy suffered during their winter offensive in the Pokrovsk area. “Currently, the pressure is most intense in the Pokrovsk direction — they conducted 44 assaults over the last day,” he added. Furthermore, Russian troops are attempting to advance towards the administrative border with the Dnipropetrovsk region in the Novopavlivka sector. Trehubov explained that the enemy is using either infantry or light vehicles during these assaults.

Recently, Russian forces struck a residential building in Kramatorsk with a missile, resulting in rescue teams recovering the bodies of five deceased residents from the rubble.
