Russia Prepares Major Offensives on Three Fronts
Russia is gearing up for significant offensives on three fronts, reallocating troops from other regions. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference.
According to Zelensky, the primary targets for these offensives are the Zaporizhzhia, Pokrovsk, and Novopavlivka directions.
“We estimate that they plan to send approximately 15,000 additional troops to the Zaporizhzhia front, around 7,000 to the Pokrovsk front, and roughly 5,000 to the Novopavlivka area, which they consider a third priority,” the President clarified.
Zelensky also noted that out of the 53,000 Russian troops currently stationed in the Sumy region, about 30,000 could be redeployed to these three locations.
“These are their most combat-capable units, currently concentrated in the Kursk area. We expect this redeployment to occur after the 15th, and they will begin active preparations for assault actions,” the President emphasized.
Ukrainian estimates suggest that by September, these brigades could be ready for an offensive, and with additional forces, potentially as early as November.
“These directions were identified by the enemy last year, and their plan of action has not fundamentally changed. The only reason the attack was postponed for a year was our operation in Kursk, which forced the Russians to shift troops there. We are now seeing the same preparatory steps and an increase in personnel,” Zelensky explained.
He underscored that throughout this month, Russian forces would likely attempt to demonstrate local advancements to exert political pressure on Ukraine and seek concessions.
“We fully understand their intentions and are preparing our military to counter them,” the President concluded, reports 24brussels.
