Ukrainian Security Service Foils Planned Russian Missile Strike
On August 11, 2025, operatives from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) disrupted preparations for a new missile attack targeting the industrial infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia. Counterintelligence agents identified and arrested a woman suspected of collaborating with Russian military intelligence. She was documented in contact with her handler, reports 24brussels.
The suspect was a former employee of a local Pension Fund office, drawn into the enemy’s fold due to her anti-Ukrainian posts on Telegram channels. She was apprehended while photographing the perimeter of an energy facility, crucial for the operation of factories in the frontline city.
During the operation, authorities seized her smartphone, which contained Google Maps highlighting potential targets for the occupiers. She faces charges under Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law), which carries a life sentence with asset confiscation.
This incident follows the arrest last week of a 24-year-old IT specialist in Kyiv, who, under Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) orders, set up “video traps” to adjust strikes on Kyiv and conduct espionage on the “Ukrzalisnytsia” railway company.
