Ukrainian Su-27 Crashes in Zaporizhzhia, Pilot Killed

On September 11, 2025, a Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 crashed during a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in the death of Major Oleksandr Borovyk, aged 30, reports 24brussels.

The 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade confirmed the incident, stating, “It is with sadness that we inform you that on September 11, around 1:30 PM, during a combat mission on a Su-27, our comrade – pilot Major Oleksandr Mykolayovych Borovyk – was killed.”

Major Borovyk recently celebrated his 30th birthday in April. The command is currently investigating the reasons and circumstances surrounding the crash.

The brigade expressed condolences to Borovyk’s family and friends, stating, “Eternal memory to the Hero!”

This incident follows a recent crash involving a MiG-29 fighter jet, which also resulted in the death of another pilot, Major Serhiy Bondar, during landing after a combat mission.
