UN Security Council to Convene Following Massive Russian Strike on Kyiv
A massive missile attack by Russia on Ukraine’s capital, which occurred on July 31, resulted in casualties and significant destruction. In response, the UN Security Council will hold a special meeting on August 1, reports 24brussels.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced this on social media platform X. He stated, “Putin continues to demonstrate a lack of willingness for peace and perpetuates the path of escalation. The world has sufficient influence to stop him — it requires unity, pressure, and a clear stance against aggression.”
Sibiga emphasized that the Security Council meeting will serve as a crucial international platform for a resolute condemnation of Russian actions and a call for an immediate ceasefire.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (22:00 Kyiv time).
As a result of the combined attack on Kyiv on July 31, at least 15 people were killed, including two children.
