World can learn a lot: American company interested in Ukrainian UAV technologies

Ukrainian Defense Ministry Engages with Axon to Combat Drone Threats

On October 4, 2023, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Serhiy Boyev met with Rick Smith, founder of the American technology company Axon, and Aaditya Devarakonda, CEO of Dedrone by Axon. The meetings focused on discussions about collaboration and the exchange of expertise to counter hostile drone activities, reports 24brussels.

Axon representatives expressed their willingness to cooperate with Ukrainian manufacturers, emphasizing a strong desire to engage in efforts related to electronic warfare and interceptor drones. These technologies are deemed crucial for protecting civilians from drone attacks.

Boyev stated, “We are already collaborating with Ukrainian companies to scale production, but we continue to seek new solutions.” The discussions covered the technical specifications needed by Ukraine, potential experience sharing opportunities, and collaboration formats between Axon and Ukrainian producers.

American entrepreneurs highlighted that the world could learn significantly from Ukraine regarding the practical use of drones. As representatives of a major technology firm, they are actively interested in this expertise.

Devarakonda remarked, “Our proposal today is not about business, but about the issue of protecting people. We are inspired by the Ukrainian military and the technologies they employ, so it is an honor for us to work together and share this experience.”

Previously, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that Ukraine and the United States are in negotiations concerning an agreement for American investment into local drone production. She mentioned that the agreement would also include the procurement of Ukrainian drones by the United States. President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed that the U.S. would purchase Ukrainian drones, announcing a forthcoming deal valued between $10 billion and $30 billion.
