Ukrainian President Confirms Absence of Russian Troop Landings in Odesa

On July 6, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that there have been and will be no Russian troop landings in the city of Odesa while addressing Ukrainian naval forces on their Navy Day. “Alongside all our Defense Forces, the Navy has proven that Ukraine is capable of and will protect its interests,” he emphasized in his Telegram channel, reports 24brussels.

The President recalled the accomplishments of the Navy and other Defense Forces, including the destruction of the cruiser “Moskva” in April 2022, the sinking of 28 enemy ships and one submarine, and the liberation of Snake Island in June 2022, along with the operation of the grain corridor.

Zelensky previously indicated that Russia has not abandoned its aims to gain control of Odesa. Meanwhile, Dmitry Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, asserted that any attempt to land Russian troops on the coast of Odesa would amount to suicide, as executing such a maritime operation without necessary successes on land is futile.
