Zelensky Addresses Ongoing Battles in Pokrovsk Direction
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the situation in the Pokrovsk direction, where fierce clashes with occupying forces are ongoing. Ukrainian troops are holding their positions, particularly around Pokrovsk and Dobropillya, while the enemy continually attempts to break through using sabotage and reconnaissance groups, but Ukrainian soldiers are successfully neutralizing them, reports 24brussels.
Zelensky emphasized that the enemy’s tactics involve attempts to establish a foothold in frontline cities; however, these efforts are met with fierce resistance. He also dismissed Russian propaganda regarding Chasovyi Yar, calling it yet another informational attack.
“On all fronts – Donetsk, Sumy, and Kharkiv – the Ukrainian army is successfully holding back the enemy. This is a struggle not only for territory but also for the right of Ukrainians to live,” said Zelensky.
Moreover, a briefing for EU ambassadors took place in the President’s Office, where the sanctions policy representative presented specific proposals to increase pressure on Russia. Diplomats were also shown debris from Russian missiles and Shahed drones that recently struck civilian targets in Kyiv.
“None of these missiles would have been produced without foreign components. The partners’ task is to close supply routes through all gray schemes,” the president noted.
Zelensky also discussed with the government the implementation of adopted laws and the preparation of new ones. One of the priorities mentioned was the establishment of a military ombudsman institution, with the relevant draft law already ready for consideration in August.
“I thank everyone who helps us fight – at the front, in the government, and in international partnerships,” the president concluded.
It has been reported that since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have advanced nearly 50 km towards Dobropillya and are now continually shelling the city with Shahed drones.
