Massive Russian Missile Attack in Kyiv Results in 31 Casualties
In the wake of a massive missile attack by Russia on Kyiv, at least 31 individuals have been confirmed dead, among whom are five children, including a two-year-old. Additionally, 159 others sustained injuries, with 16 being minors, reports 24brussels.
Rescue operations in the affected areas of Kyiv have concluded, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko’s report to President Volodymyr Zelensky. All victims are receiving necessary medical assistance.
President Zelensky conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and expressed gratitude to rescuers, medical personnel, police, and utility workers who participated in the response efforts. He emphasized the need for increased pressure on Moscow following such a treacherous attack, stating that sanctions must become even stronger to target everything that allows Russia to continue its terror.
Zelensky thanked international partners, especially leaders from Europe and the United States, for their support and condemnation of Russia’s actions. He highlighted that in July alone, Russia deployed over 5,100 precision-guided aerial bombs, more than 3,800 Shahed-type drones, and almost 260 missiles of various types, including 128 ballistic missiles.
“We can only stop this together — America, Europe, and other global actors. Every interaction is crucial. Every day matters. Thank you to everyone who aids Ukraine,” the president concluded.
It is important to note that Russian forces launched their assault on Ukraine on the night of July 31, deploying over 300 drones and eight missiles. The primary focus of this aerial offensive was the capital. On August 1, Kyiv declared a Day of Mourning for those lost in the missile attack.
