German Prosecutors Charge Accomplice in Espionage Case
German prosecutors have charged Jaqi X., an alleged accomplice, in connection with the espionage case involving Jian G. The 29-year-old, employed by a logistics firm at Leipzig airport, is accused of supplying Jian G. with sensitive information related to flights, cargo, and passengers, particularly concerning the transport of military equipment and individuals linked to a German arms company, reports 24brussels.
Jian G., arrested in April 2024, remains in pretrial detention. Meanwhile, Jaqi X. has been detained since September 2024 on related charges.
Maximilian Krah, the AfD’s leading candidate in the recent European election, is also under investigation for allegedly accepting payments from foreign entities during his tenure as an MEP, raising further questions about the activities within the party.
Krah has denied knowledge of his assistant’s actions, stating he was “deceived,” and is expected to testify as a witness in Jian G.’s trial.
The trial is set to continue until the end of September, with additional hearings scheduled for this week.
